Nowadays there are more and more cases of patients who wish to correct the positioning of their teeth in a discreet and inconspicuous way.
Orthodontics is responsible for correcting malpositions of the teeth and at Clínica Miravéco we have expert orthodontists who will accompany you in this decision, placing value on functionality and health as well as aesthetics.
A very widespread treatment nowadays
One of the treatments prescribed are invisible aligners; a type of appliance characterized (above all) for being practically invisible. Its discretion and comfort allows no one to know that you are wearing it. As we have already mentioned, they are usually more comfortable than traditional braces, as they are custom-made and reposition the teeth gently and effectively.
It should be borne in mind that eating with this type of orthodontic appliance is usually a little more uncomfortable than eating with a traditional appliance, so it is best to remove it before starting. It is advisable not to eat or chew with the aligners in place, as they can become damaged and can become deformed or break due to the temperature of the food or its hardness.
Take advantage of this and correct the habit of eating between meals.
For this type of orthodontics to be effective, it must be worn at least 22 hours a day. Removing the aligners too often to eat or snack between meals delays the duration of treatment, so eliminating the habit of snacking between meals is beneficial to accelerate this treatment.
Avoid hot drinks
With aligners you can drink water and other beverages as long as they are cold or at room temperature, without any problem. On the other hand, you cannot drink any hot beverages with the aligners in place because they could deform the splints with the heat. Likewise, as with food, the aligners can be stained by the coloring of beverages such as coffee, tea, red wine, etc. For this reason, it is recommended to remove them when consuming these types of drinks.
Variety and hygiene
Adequate nutrition with aligners is not limited to a specific diet. With this type of treatment, the patient can eat whatever he/she wants, since he/she can (and should) remove the aligners to do so. However, it is essential to brush your teeth thoroughly before putting the aligners back in.
