Radiology

For proper diagnosis it is essential the help of panoramic radiographs (also called orthopantomographiesand which are made with a machine that rotates around the head) and periapical radiographs (those performed by placing plates of different sizes inside the mouthsince only with the visual clinical examination you can not always detect cavities, cysts or other conditions.

For panoramic radiographs we use the Kodak 8000 system (technical specifications are available in the link) and for periapical radiographs the Carestream RVG 6100 system.

In the following links you can find the European guidelines on radiation protection in dental radiology and the safe use of radiographs in dental practice and the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (see Annex D for exposures for medical radiation) .
